An estimate made by the Brazilian Association of Bars and Restaurants (Abrasel) estimates that the sector should move around R$ 80 billion and generate more than 60 thousand job vacancies between January and March of next year. In coastal regions, the increase in sales in bars and restaurants can reach 30%.
The optimism for the movement brought by the beginning of summer will still have to adapt to the country’s sanitary scenario, which is facing at the same time the Ômicron variant of the coronavirus and flu outbreaks caused by the H3N2 strain of the Influenza virus.
In an interview with CNN, Abrasel’s executive president, Paulo Solmucci, recalled that more than 1.2 million jobs and 300 thousand companies in the sector were closed due to the pandemic, but now the sector is showing recovery. “We paid a hard and disproportionate bill”, he said.
“That was behind us and little by little we are recovering. In this second half, we reached 600 thousand new jobs”, he informed.
“We have full houses and the sector is recovering strongly. In a responsible way and with great strength, the restaurants are growing a lot”, complemented the president of Abrasel.
