Brazilian beef exports rise 24% in the first half, points out association

THE export Brazilian from beef had a growth of 24% in the first half of 2022 compared to 2021, with a 53% increase in revenue, according to data from the Brazilian Association of Refrigerators (Abrafrigo).

According to data from the association, the sector exported 1.09 million tons of beef and meat products in the first six months of 2022, compared to 880,000 in the same period in 2021.

In terms of revenue, the total for the sector was US$ 6.24 billion. In 2021, revenue was US$ 4.08 billion.

All the first six months of the year recorded growth in export revenues, with the lowest increase in January (12.9%) and the highest in June (18.3%).

THE China maintained its leadership among the destinations for beef exports, accounting for 49.4% of total exports and 59% of revenues. The growth in volume was 35.5%, and in revenue, 86.7%.

Still in comparison with the first half of 2021, the United States surpassed Hong Kong and were the second main destination, receiving 9% of the total exported. O Egypt in third place, surpassed six countries compared to the previous year’s data.

In the list of top ten destinations are Chile, Hong Kong, Israel, Philippines, United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and Italy, respectively.

In the division by regions of Brazil, Abrafrigo points out that the Midwest maintained its leadership in terms of exported volume (42.4% of the total) and revenue (41.5%), with growth of 21% and 49%, respectively.

Subsequently, the Southeast was in second place (33.2% of total exports), the North in third (17.4%), the South in fourth (6.4%) and the Northeast in fifth (0.5% ).

Despite the leadership of the Midwest, the state with the highest volume exported and revenue was Sao Paulo , accounting for 23.3% and 26.1% of the total, respectively. It is followed by Mato Grosso (20.4%), Goiás (11.7%) and Mato Grosso do Sul (10.2%), in the same order as in 2021.
