The general director of Méliuz Israel Salmen is sure that buying bitcoin will help reduce the risks associated with the country’s credit and money policy. Salmen contrasted bitcoin investments with fixed income, which is reduced due to high taxation. He also noted a deficit of bitcoin, whose offer is limited to 21 million coins.
Méliuz plans to make Bitcoin the main treasury asset and has already formed a strategic committee to evaluate further investments in cryptocurrency. The company also seeks to attract institutional investors who want to gain access to cryptocurrency. The Board of Directors Méliuz approved changes in its liquidity management policy, according to which the company can allocate to the purchase of bitcoin up to 10% of its reserve.
Méliuz made this decision after its shares have fallen more than half from the moment IPO. Bitcoin investments were partly facilitated by high interest rates and growing inflation in Brazil. This purchase was a big step towards the integration of digital assets into the financial structure of Méliuz, Salmen noted.
In February, the technological company Semler Scientific, operating in the healthcare sector, purchased 871 BTCs in the amount of $ 88.5 million. Earlier, the company bought 303 bitcoin for money proceeds from the sale of additional shares.
