Matheus Massa, better known in the music world as Zerb will release a new version of the song this Friday (2) “feelslikeimfallinginlove” of Coldplay in partnership with the British band itself. This will be the first time that a Brazilian will share a project with the artists.
With over 250 million streams on the platforms, including songs “Mwaki” It is “Addicted” — made with the duo The Chainsmokers —, the DJ was invited in June of this year to remix a single from Coldplay’s next album. But the partnership was so successful that it became much more than a simple remix.
As soon as he met with Chris Martin, in Germany, the two began producing. “I was very excited to see everything that was happening, to understand that I was sitting in the studio with Chris Martin making a song,” said Zerb, in a first-hand material shared with CNN.
“On the second day of the studio, I played the song and Chris looked at me with a look of astonishment. When the chorus came in, he stood up, opened his arms, came running, shook me excitedly and said: ‘Play it from the beginning because I want to feel this again’. That was incredible for me”.
Unlike a remix, in which a music producer works on another artist’s song, the DJ had the opportunity to re-record a new version from scratch, with the help of the band itself. “Chris Martin was really excited about it and told us to release it as ‘Zerb X Coldplay X feelslikeimfallinginlove’ “, said the Brazilian.
Even featuring a video designed by the British group’s vocalist, the work was recorded in Hellsing, Finland, and will also be released this Friday.
For Zerb, this achievement shows the importance of consistency in a career. “Less than a year ago, I was giving up on music. It seemed like nothing I was doing was working. I was completely unmotivated to continue.”
With the arrival of 2024, some of his productions became successful, “until I got into the studio with Coldplay, the biggest band of the century. This proved to me that if you don’t give up on what you’re doing, your life can change overnight, just like mine did,” says Zerb.
“My goal with my music has always been to break down all barriers, especially in electronic music. I am very happy to represent Brazil by doing this, which is what I love,” he concludes.
