The Brazilian film “Motel Destino” which competed for the Palme d’Or at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival, opens in theaters this Thursday (22).
In the plot, a motel (which gives the film its name) on the side of a road on the coast of Ceará is the scene of dangerous games of desire, power and violence. One night, the arrival of young Heraldo definitively changes the motel’s daily routine. The young man, on the run and completely vulnerable, crosses paths with a woman trapped in an abusive marriage.

The direction is Karim Ainouz (“Praia do Futuro”; “A Vida Invisível”), who described the title as “a mix of pornochanchada and police film”.
The American magazine Vanity Fair classified the feature film as “the sexiest of Cannes”.
