Brazilian film shown in Venice, “I’m Still Here” gets teaser; watch

After screening at the Venice Film Festival and receiving a 10-minute standing ovation, “I’m Still Here” had the first teaser released this Monday (2). The premiere date of the new film Walter Salles (“Central do Brasil” and “The Motorcycle Diaries”) has not yet been revealed.

The plot is inspired by the book of the same name by Marcelo Rubens Paiva which tells the story of her family. Set in Rio de Janeiro in the 1970s, the film introduces the Paiva family: the father, Rubens, the mother, Eunice, and their five children. One day they suffer a violent and arbitrary act that will change the course of their lives forever. Eunice is forced to reinvent herself and chart a new destiny for herself and her children.

The title stars Fernanda Torres and Selton Mello and features special participation by Fernanda Montenegro . The production marks the third partnership between Salles and Torres, who were together in “Foreign Land” (1995) and “The First Day” (1998), and Montenegro’s reunion with the director, with whom he worked on the award-winning “Central Brazil“ (1998).
