The Brazilian flag was hoisted at the Argentine embassy building in Caracas this Thursday (1), after Itamaraty assumed Argentina’s diplomatic and consular interests in Venezuela.
The movement is taking place due to the expulsion of Argentine diplomats from Venezuelan territory by the Nicolás Maduro government, caused by the Casa Rosada’s accusation that Sunday’s presidential election was fraudulent.
The Bolivarian leader expelled the diplomatic corps of six other countries in the same episode.
At the X, Argentine President Javier Milei thanked Brazil for its diplomatic gesture. “The bonds of friendship that unite Argentina and Brazil are very strong and historic,” wrote Milei.
Although it does not directly mention President Lula, the statement contrasts with the tone adopted by Milei on previous occasions, when she referred to the Brazilian politician as “corrupt” and “communist”.
