The National Confederation of Industry (CNI) expects a growth in the Brazilian GDP of 1.6% in 2023. The entity’s forecasts for next year were released this Tuesday (6).
For the industrial GDP, the perspective is for a growth of 0.8%, with the expectation of an increase of 0.3% in the manufacturing industry GDP and 2.0% in the construction industry in 2023.
For CNI’s economics executive manager, Mário Sérgio Telles, the growth expected for 2023 will be driven by the services sector, continuity of expansion in the number of people with work and in the real wage bill.
“The expectation of a sharp increase in government spending also contributes to the growth of 2023. The CNI estimates that the federal government’s primary expenditures will have a real growth of 10% in 2023”, he says.
The CNI predicts inflation of 5.4% in 2023. For the interest rate, the projection is for an average Selic of 13.5%, with a year-end rate of 11.75%. For the exchange rate, the forecast is that the average for the year will be R$ 5.33.
The entity also foresees an average unemployment rate of 8.9% next year.
The confederation also made estimates for public accounts and estimates a primary deficit of 2% of GDP in 2023, with a negative nominal result of 8.3% and gross public debt of 78.8% of GDP. For the trade balance, the estimate is US$ 55.9 billion next year.
