The Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a note on Wednesday (21) condemning the Israeli offensive in the Gaza Strip. In the statement, Itamaraty reaffirmed that the two -state solution is the only legitimate and lasting conflict.
“The Brazilian government condemns, in the strongest terms, the launch of a new Israeli offensive in the Gaza Strip, with intensification of air bombing and expansion of land operations, which caused, in recent days, the death of more than 300 Palestinians, including women and children, and forced the displacement of over 60,000 people,” the note says.
The statement also cited the Prime Minister’s statement, Benjamin Netanyahu, which country will take control of the entire enclave. The text says that any claim to exercise permanent authority in occupied territory is incompatible with the rules of international law.
“Brazil also reaffirms that the only legitimate and lasting solution for the conflict lies in the definitive implementation of the two state solution,” he added.
The note also cited the concern of the Brazilian government with the risk of widespread hunger in the Gaza range, stating that the use of hunger as a method is a war crime. Itamaraty also stressed that Brazil condemns the blockade of humanitarian aid in the territory and appeals for the end of hostilities, the complete withdrawal of the Israeli forces of Gaza and the liberation of hosts by Hamas.
