Brazilian is the one who does the most research on dengue in the world

In the world, Brazil is the country with the greatest search interest for dengue on the internet, according to a survey carried out by Google exclusively for the CNN . Soon after, Paraguay, Argentina, Peru and Uruguay appear, respectively. The data was observed from January 1st to March 25th, 2024.

The year 2024 is the year with the most searches for dengue in the country since the beginning of the Google Trends historical series, in 2004. No other country in South America has broken a similar record.

Considering the months, February this year was the one with the most interest in searching for the disease in Brazil. If the trend continues, March 2024 should surpass this milestone and break the research record again.

In 2024, the federative units with the most interest in searching for dengue were: Distrito Federal, Minas Gerais, Goiás, Rio de Janeiro and Paraná. In order, the regions with the most interest: Southeast, Central-West, South, North and Northeast.

Dengue in Brazil

Brazil reached the mark of 758 confirmed deaths from dengue in 2024, according to the monitoring panel updated by the Ministry of Health this Monday (25). Another 1,252 deaths are being investigated for allegedly being related to the disease.

Last Friday (22), the ministry reported that the country had reached 2,045,277 confirmed cases. In this latest update, this number rose to 2,265,935, that is, there was an increase of more than 200 thousand cases in less than three days.

In absolute numbers, there are almost 1,116 confirmed cases per 100,000 inhabitants according to the ministry. This is yet another number that has increased in the universe of statistics related to the disease being analyzed by the ministry. Last Friday, it was at around 1,007.

To date, Minas Gerais is the state with the highest number of infections in total numbers. There are 744,940 according to the last update, which resulted in 126 deaths, with a further 465 under investigation.

Proportionally, however, the Federal District is the region with the most confirmed cases. There are 6,271 detected per 100 thousand inhabitants.
