Legislators in Brazil’s highest house of parliament, after postponing a vote on a bill to regulate cryptocurrencies ahead of an election, are looking for lawyers with precise knowledge of digital assets.
The Brazilian Senate has posted on the state job search resource the vacancies of a legal consultant and a budget consultant who understands cryptocurrencies and blockchain. Job requirements require candidates to have “specific knowledge” of both “crypto assets and blockchain.”
The announcement explains that in addition to “general knowledge” of the technology, applicants will need to prove that they have a solid understanding of smart contracts, blockchain technology, and “algorithms.” The applicant will need knowledge of “economic, business and consumer law”. He must be well informed about the rules of the crypto industry.
Applicants are required to be graduates of government-recognised institutions of higher education, although the Senate is open to applications from all degree holders, regardless of the specialization in which candidates majored. Knowledge will be tested in an exam that will be held throughout the country in state capitals. The application deadline is September 21st.
In early August, a representative of the Brazilian Chamber of Deputies said that the discussion of the cryptocurrency bill, which was supposed to take place this week, was postponed due to election events. Back in 2019, the US Federal Reserve Service (FRS) began looking for employees to explore ways to integrate digital currencies, stablecoins and distributed ledger technology into the work of the country’s central bank. In 2021, according to a South Korean job search website, the number of blockchain-related jobs in the country has grown by 118% in ten months.
