Brazilian songs represent 93.5% of the most played in the country, says research

A national music is the favorite among Brazilians . The information is from the Brazilian Phonographic Market 2023 report, carried out by Pró-Música, which surveyed the most played tracks in Brazil on the main music streaming services.

The study was released this Thursday (21) and addresses the Brazilian music market in relation to the world, in addition to consumption habits at the national level. The research is based on the Global Music Report carried out by the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI, acronym of the original name in English), also released today (21).

In the ranking of the 200 most played songs on streaming platforms in 2023 in Brazil, 93.5% were by Brazilian artists . Firstly, it was Marília Mendonça with “Lion“.

In the list, the first international song appears only in 43rd position. It's the hit “Flowers”, by Miley Cyrus.

Miley's song is, in fact, the only one by an international artist among the 50 most played.

The top 10 is mostly made up of country music artists. In addition to “Leão” by Marília Mendonça, the following appear in the ranking, respectively: “ Nosso Quadro”, by Ana Castela ; “Yummy Mistake”, by Simone Mendes ; “Bombonzinho”, by Israel & Rodolffo and Mari Fernandez ; “Seu Brilho Sumiu”, by Israel & Rodolffo and Mari Fernandez; and “Oi Balde”, by Zé Neto & Cristiano .

Already in seventh position is “Lapada Dela”, which is a feat between the pagode group Less Is More with Matheus Fernandes . Next up is the funk “Tá OK”, by Dennis with MC Kevin O Chris .

Closing the top 10 are “Traumatizei” by Henry & Juliano and “Duas Três”, by Guilherme & Benuto with Ana Castela and Adriano Rhod.

The survey carried out by Pro-Música considers data from songs played on platforms Spotify , YouTube , Deezer , Apple Music , Amazon Music It is Napster . The information is compiled by the company BMAT and then analyzed by Pro-Música.

The study also reported that the Brazilian music market grew above the global average for the seventh consecutive year. Therefore, according to Pro-Música, Brazil remains among the most important music markets in the world.

According to IFPI data, Brazil is in ninth place in the world ranking.

Brazil's growth, according to Pro-Música's analysis, is driven by streaming. Around 87.1% of the sector's revenues came from music platforms, totaling R$2.5 billion.

Music consumption through subscriptions to streaming services increased by 21.9% and reached R$1.6 billion in 2023.
