Vinícola Miolo launches a sparkling wine that was submerged in French waters for just over a year. This is the Miolo Cuvée – Under The Sea batch of only 504 bottles with each sold for R$3,500 .
In 2016, in celebration of the 100,000 bottles of Miolo Cuvée exported, the winery decided to immerse 504 bottles from the 2014 harvest in the depths of the Atlantic Ocean in Europe.
The point chosen to dive them was the Baie du Stiff, on the island of Ouessant, belonging to the administrative region of Brittany . The bottles aged in an underwater cave more than 60 meters deep between October 2016 and November 2017, kept in total darkness.
After being lifted, the batch returned to Brazil to rest in the underground cave of Vinícola Miolo, in Vale dos Vinhedos, Serra Gaúcha, until it was 10 years old.

The Miolo Cuvée – Under The Sea uses grapes Chardonnay and Pinot Noir from the Vale dos Vinhedos terroir, being prepared using the traditional method.
Each bottle is surrounded by packaging that reproduces the lens of a maritime lighthouse . She is still accompanied by a map that identifies the exact place where the sparkling wine remained submerged in the sea .
The sparkling wine is now on sale directly from Miolo, through the winery’s official service channels.
In the future, other sparkling wines aged at sea will also be part of sales. They are a batch of 140 bottles of Miolo Cuvée Brut Rosé from 2014 and another batch of 350 units from 2016.
The Miolo Cuvée line was launched in 1995 and is currently present in 15 countries, where it carries the Denomination of Origin Vale dos Vinhedos (DOVV). In addition to Under the Sea and Brut Rosé, Miolo Cuvée is sold in Brut White and Nature versions.
