A survey by the organization Todos Pela Educação showed that a large part of voters see education as a way out of unemployment.
THE CNNOlavo Nogueira Filho, executive director of the organization, said that this is the main message of the research.
“A significant portion see a lot of relationship between improving the quality of education and the impact on other areas of society. Firstly, the relationship and unemployment,” he said.
Nogueira Filho also highlighted that the survey showed that the electoral population also associates good education with other areas, such as income, violence and the reduction of corruption.
About 49% cited the reduction in the number of unemployed, 40% think that this will reduce violence and 33% believe that it will improve the income of Brazilians.
The survey showed that 59% of respondents rate the Education theme as “very important” the candidates’ proposals when voting; 15% said it was “little important”, while for 17% the topic will be indifferent in their choices in October.
For Nogueira Filho, what the electorate is going through is: “even if education will not solve all Brazilian problems, without quality education we will have a more developed, prosperous and fair country”, he said.
The executive director of the NGO Todos Pela Educação also highlighted that education is advancing in the country.
“It is important for us to understand that this is not a scorched earth scenario. Brazilian education has advanced a lot, but the fact is that the pandemic has had a huge impact. Challenges that already existed were amplified. But the good news is that education is on the agenda of the Brazilian population,” she said.
