Brazilian who received the anti-Covid pill tells how the treatment was in Israel

Brazilian economist Simcha Neumark, who lives in Israel, received Paxlovid pills for Covid-19 treatment after contracting the disease last Friday (31). He told during an interview with CNN this Wednesday (5) how is the treatment with the Pfizer pill, approved on an emergency basis in the country where he lives.

The symptoms of the illness noticed by Neumark were fever, headache and sore throat. After taking a PCR test at home and testing positive for the disease, he was given government pills for treatment, which needs to be started 48 hours after symptoms appear.

“The pill has a very good efficacy for cases like mine,” he said. He said that less than 24 hours after taking the first dose he already registered relief of symptoms.

“After 15 to 17 hours I had no fever, no sore throat, almost no migraine. In terms of side effects, it (the drug) is very tired. It looks like you left a Covid and went to mononucleosis”, he compared.

The economist, who has an autoimmune disease that prevented him from creating antibodies to Covid-19 even after taking five doses of the vaccine.

Neumark says that the Israeli government already knew about his condition, and that the Ministry of Health got in touch indicating the treatment.

“They said that, if I wanted to take it (…), in cases like mine, it was very suitable”, he said. The authorities highlighted, in contact with the Brazilian, that the drug had been approved on an emergency basis in Israel, although in the United States approval via the FDA was already broad.

The drug was taken to the Brazilian’s residence, who started it and is still undergoing treatment. There are three pills given in the morning and three more in the evening for five days.

“I’m feeling much better after taking three doses of Paxlovid already,” said the economist.
