Brazilian who was in Ukraine reports flight to Russia: “Tengue trip”

Brazilian futsal player Ewerton Florêncio, who played for Ukrainian club Prodexim, managed to escape the war in Ukraine by taking a route to Moscow, Russia, via Crimea.

“It was a tense departure, I hadn’t communicated it to practically anyone. I decided to go with three minutes to go before the train left, but everything went well, several people helped me, the Brazilian ambassador too”, said Florêncio in an interview with CNN Radio.

“It was a tense trip, but it all worked out. Soon, I will arrive in Brazil”, she added.

He was in the city of Kherson, the first city occupied by Russian troops, alongside two other Brazilian players. “They didn’t want to go because there was no plan,” he explained.

Upon arriving in Moscow on Thursday (10), Ewerton reports that he noticed that the population does not seem to be affected by the war: “People live a normal life, it seems that nothing is happening, they are working, living their lives and ‘ ball forward”.

“[Situação] Totally different from Kherson where everyone is scared. Here everything is calm, athletes are playing, people working in commerce, restaurants”, he added.

The player maintains contact with the Brazilians who stayed in Ukraine, and said that they reported that they lacked foods such as meat, eggs and milk.

“With the bombings, the situation there is not good and the tendency is to get worse”, he pointed out.

Ewerton will take a flight on Saturday (12) to Dubai and then come to Brazil. He hopes to arrive by Sunday (13) in Brazilian territory.
