Brazilian woman arrested in the US accused of shooting dead man

The Brazilian Juliana Peres Magalhães 23 years old, was arrested last Thursday (19), accused of having shot dead Joseph Ryan aged 39, in Reston, Virginia, United States, in February this year.

On February 25, local police received a call to the house where Juliana worked as an au pair. At the scene, 37-year-old homeowner Christine Banfield was found in a bedroom with stab wounds to the upper part of her body. Nearby, Ryan was found shot. Both died.

According to the investigations, which lasted almost seven months, Juliana was the one who shot Ryan.

In a note published on the day of the incident, authorities said that the Brazilian woman was responsible for calling the police and reported that a friend was injured.

“A man then picked up his phone and stated that he shot an unknown man who entered his home and stabbed a woman,” the Feb. 25 statement said.

The man in question would be Cristine’s husband, according to the investigation.

Detectives continue to conduct interviews and review digital and forensic evidence to determine the circumstances that led to the fatal stabbing of Christine Banfield and the death of Joseph Ryan, police said.
