Police in the capital of the United States, Washington DC, confirmed in a post on social media that they found alive 17-year-old Brazilian Manuela Cohen, who had been missing for 23 days. Authorities did not provide further information.
The young woman’s father, Bruno Cohen, stated in a video published on Facebook that his daughter was located and is with her family. According to Bruno, she is physically well, but psychologically shaken.
The father reported that Manuela was in a city in the state of Maryland, about 30 minutes from the American capital and that she remained there of her own free will. Bruno thanked the support on social media during the period of the teenager’s disappearance and said that she would soon come forward to explain what happened.
Disappearance in Washington
Manuela Cohen left her home in Washington DC on November 20th in the afternoon and, until then, she had not been seen again.
Through social media, family members reported that Manuela sent a message to her parents the day after leaving home. She said she would be in Baltimore, Maryland, about 30 miles from Washington.
The parents said she was with friends they didn’t know and that the young woman said she needed time alone. After this message, there was no further contact.
At the time of her disappearance, the Washington police even published on X, formerly Twitter, a photo and a description of the teenager asking for information about her whereabouts.
