Brazilians who had bags exchanged report skin infection after arrest in Germany

Katyna Baía and Jeanne Paollini, who were detained for 38 days in Germany after having their bags exchanged for another one with drugs at Guarulhos International Airport, reported that they returned to Brazil with a bacterial skin infection after their time in prison.

According to lawyer Luciana Provázio, who represents the two women, Katyna and Jeanne had to share their clothes, including underwear, with the other detainees during their time in jail in the Frankfurt region.

The infection was confirmed after a trip to a dermatologist, the defense said.

In a post on Instagram, the Brazilians lamented the problem. “We came back with a bacterial infection on the skin that occurred due to the collective use of clothes and panties! (Yes, it was all for collective use). One more problem from that arbitrary and unfair imprisonment, but we will overcome it.”

The two returned to Brazil on April 14 after having their freedom approved by the German Public Ministry. Since their arrival, they have shared reports about the experience on social networks.

Last week, Kátyna published a drawing she made during her prison days. In it, she illustrates her vision through the cell where she stayed for more than a month. The illustration depicts a kind of terrace, with two trees, many railings and some people.

“This was a drawing I made in my cell, it was the view I had from the window of the cell where I stayed for 38 days! This place they call “Rulfigan”. It was a time for sunbathing, cold or snow, ”she wrote.

Kátyna and Jeanne have also said that they will file a lawsuit against the German Public Ministry and the German State “in order to repair the moral and material damage caused”.
