The Minister of Economy, Paulo Guedes, declared this Thursday (19) that “Brazil has a very strong fiscal performance”, and compared the Brazilian scenario with that of emerging countries and with those that are part of the G7.
“The main message I would like to leave is that the fiscal is strong… much better than all the countries out there, both the G7 and the emerging ones. Our fiscal performance is well above, confirming our expectations that we would surprise,” he said.
Guedes gave the opening speech for the presentation of data from the MacroFiscal Bulletin for May, after the release of government projections for GDP and inflation this year.
The economic team of the federal government maintained the expectation of growth of the Brazilian GDP for 2022 at 1.5%, and at 2.5% for the next year.
The projection for the IPCA (Broad Consumer Price Index), considering the country’s official inflation, increased from 6.55% to 7.9%.
“We are continuing with a consistent recovery, mainly on the one hand due to our control of expenses and on the other the economic recovery”, said Guedes.
After the opening speech, the minister gave the floor to the Secretary of Economic Policy, Pedro Calhman, who showed the trajectory of the numbers released by the Ministry of Economy.
