A collection with a hard cover entitled “99.1% Pure: Breaking Bad Art” gathered the works of art of the fans of the series that, for a decade since it was first shown, remains at the center of pop culture. This is a 232-page volume of fan art inspired by the desert universe in New Mexico by Vince Gilligan, creator of the TV series «Breaking Bad» and “Better Call Saul”.
According to APE-MPE, to work on the series “Saul”, Gilligan’s team moved to offices that were open and sterile and free from any modern spirit. So some of the workers in the series began filling the huge tables with works downloaded from the internet from around the world: thousands of fan-inspired works of art from the desert universe in Gilligan, New Mexico.
“We printed every image we found on Tumblr, Twitter and Instagram,” said Better Call Saul producer Jen Carroll.
Images of Jimmy McGill, the corrupt defense lawyer posing as Bob Odenkerk, and Mike Ermandroth, the retired police officer linked to the cartel, played by Jonathan Banks. The goal: “To inspire screenwriters and convey their excitement around these characters.”
Gilligan stopped in the hallway every day and stared in surprise until finally, two years ago, he started asking his team, “How do we communicate this?” How do we choose the best projection? And so all the works were collected in a volume of 232 pages.
The selected works of art are not a simple representation, they are a careful interpretation, they explore the emotion and the motivation of the characters. The book’s authors, Claudia Azurmendi and Joanna Zhang, write about the protagonist of the Breaking Bad series, Walter Hartwell White: with time”.
