Donald Trump’s government has decided to exclude smartphones, computers, laptops, chips and other electronics from “reciprocal tariffs”. As announced late Friday, the US Customs and Border Patrol Service, these product categories will not be subject to the 10% general duty that had been decided for most countries, nor the increased duty for Chinese products. The decision comes in response to the concerns of US technology companies, which warned that the prices of the devices may be launched, as the majority of these products are manufactured in China. The exceptions include other electronics and accessories, such as semiconductors, photovoltaic cells and memory cards, according to the BBC.
