The defense of businessman Thiago Brennand asked for the arrest warrants to be revoked, thus allowing him to return to the country. The Court of Justice of São Paulo informed, in a note, that the request is under analysis.
Brennand, who is accused of several crimes against women, is in the United Arab Emirates and is considered a fugitive.
According to the victims’ defense lawyer, Márcio Janjácomo, Brennand had several arrest warrants, but left the country and is currently in the process of being extradited. Hence, he could not leave the emirates without revocation of the arrest.
Last year, a video surfaced of the businessman attacking model Helena Gomes inside a gym, in a shopping center, in São Paulo. After formalizing the complaint, at least ten women sought the Public Prosecutor’s Office in São Paulo to report other attacks. The crimes investigated are rape, false imprisonment and threats.
The businessman refused to hand over his passport and, in September 2022, he was arrested. Shortly afterwards, in October, he was arrested by the Federal Police in Abu Dhabi, in the United Arab Emirates. The charge was bodily injury, attempted feminicide and corruption of minors. Brennand posted bail and was released the next day.
In March of this year, a new preventive detention was decreed by the São Paulo court.
