Brexit: “big differences remain”, admits Ursula von der Leyen

The President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen estimated Thursday, December 17 that “bridging” the differences between London and the EU in the post-Brexit negotiations would be “very difficult”, after a telephone interview with the British Prime Minister Boris Johnson. “With Boris Johnson we took stock of the negotiations between the EU and the UK. We welcomed significant progress on many topics. However, major differences remain, in particular on fishing. Filling them will be very difficult. The negotiations will continue tomorrow, ”tweeted the head of the European executive.
