According to a Reuters story, citing two diplomatic sources, EU negotiators should update envoys from the bloc’s 27 member states on updates on trade talks with the UK at 07:00 GMT on Friday. The sources further said that the negotiating team of Michel Barnier could still cancel the closed-door briefing depending on how the talks go with the UK.
The news had little influence on the British pound, leaving the pair GBP/USD at the mercy of USD price dynamics. At time of writing, the pair is trading near week-long highs, with the bulls now looking for a move to regain the round 1.3300 level.
