The Manhattan Federal District Court continued a series of absentee hearings in the case of Terraform co-founder Do Kwon. On Monday, April 1, former head of communications at Terraform Labs, Brian Curran, appeared before the jury. The manager said that his cooperation with the company’s management and personally with CEO Do Kwon was not easy and was full of pitfalls.
While doing PR for Terraform Labs and its stablecoin TerraUSD, the employee tried to be “honest and open to users.” However, the company administration demanded that they write and publish false information. A particular headache for Terraform's PR department began after the TerraUSD stablecoin lost its peg to the US dollar, sparking an online information conflict between Do Kwon and the crypto community.
“I was outraged that Do Kwon tried to present the TerraUSD depegging event to the community as an option to recalibrate Terraform assets. He tried to deceive me and users, and also demanded to publish a message that, as he knew in advance, was false. After that, I left Terraform because I was tired of working in an information vacuum,” Brian Curran said in court.
The trial in absentia between the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and Do Kwon began on March 25. Earlier, the businessman's lawyer, David Patton, in a letter filed in the Manhattan District Court, said that the client would not request a postponement of the trial date, regardless of when the extradition to the United States from Montenegro takes place.
