BRICS countries do not support the war in Ukraine, says ex-ambassador

The CNN Specialist in International Relations Rubens Barbosa, commented on a speech at the BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) summit, held this Thursday (23), in which President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) called for reforms in international bodies such as the UN Security Council.

India, Brazil and South Africa they have critical positions in relation to Russia’s aggression against Ukraine”, explained Rubens, citing the other members of the group of emerging market countries.

According to the expert, it is unlikely that there will be explicit manifestations at the BRICS meeting about the continuation of the war in Ukraine.

“In this meeting between the presidents of the countries, the international situation and the reform of the security council were discussed, but none mentioned a pronouncement in favor of the continuation of the war”, he affirmed.
