Bridgerton: a spinoff for Queen Charlotte

Increasingly Bridgerton. Netflix doubles. The arrival of the new seasons is already certain, up to the fourth with the hypothesis of reaching the seventh, of the record series. Now we add one spinoff, a new prequel miniseries dedicated to Queen Charlotte and her youth. It goes beyond the existing novels created by Julia Queen given the success of the series which is the most viewed on the platform.

Existing novels tell the stories of Bridgerton brothers and sisters. The spinoff, which does not yet have an official title, will tell the story of the loves and the rise of the young woman Regina Charlotte, a character who is not in the novels and therefore leaves ample space for the writers’ constructions.

The miniseries should be directly written by Shonda Rhimes and should also tell the stories of young Violet and Lady Danbury and other adult characters in the series that has already aired.

To play the queen is Golda Rosheuvel. The character, the black queen, is one of the most loved, but also one of the most talked about in the series.

Bela Bajara, head of the global TV division of Netflix, said that “many viewers had never known the figure of Queen Charlotte before Bridgerton and are excited to be able to expand it“. The goal is to bring fans the style and quality they loved in the series that chronicles the golden world of British nobility between dances in Mayfair and palaces in Park Lane.

A new series could draw attention away from a problem fans have already posed: they will hold up the new seasons without Regé-Jean Page as the Duke of Hastings? Deepening the stories of other characters could be the way to keep the whole universe of the series on its feet.
