Shonda Rhimes is a woman of her word. She is from the first season of Bridgerton who reveals in interviews that she is so fascinated by the character of Queen Charlotte that she wants to dedicate a spin-off to her and, in the end, that dream has come true, and there is already the actress who will play her. This is the young India Amarteifio, which will lend the face to the younger version of the queen of Bridgerton in a new 8-episode series that will soon be released on Netflix. The series, according to preliminary information, will tell the story of how the young queen’s marriage to King George sparked both a great love story than a social change that has affected the whole world.

The Charlotte di Amarteifio is, in fact, betrothed to the King of England against his will, and arrives in London only to make sure the royal family is not what he expected. While he learns to live with the reality of the court, he will unwittingly lay the foundations to become one of the most unforgettable monarchs in Europe. Golda Rosheuvel, who plays Queen Charlotte in Bridgerton, will reprise her role in the prequel, as will Adjoa Andoh (Lady Agatha Danbury) and Ruth Gemmell (Lady Violet Bridgerton). The new entries of the cast will be, among others: Michelle Fairley, who will take on the role of Augusta, the widowed princess who will do whatever it takes to ensure her son’s well-being as King of England, and Corey Mylchreest, who will lend his face to young King George, a boy who has always bowed to the restrictions of the crown until sharing his space and bed with his new wife forces him to face his hidden demons.
We will find, however, also Arsema Thomas, as a young Lady Danbury who uses Charlotte’s arrival to find her way into society; Sam Clemmett in Brimsley’s, Richard Cunningham in Lord Bute’s; Tunji Kasim in that of Adolfo; Rob Maloney as the court doctor and Cyril Nri as Lord Danbury, Agatha’s much older husband. The spin-off of Bridgerton will, of course, still see Shondaland involved, while the direction will be entrusted to Tom Verica, who has had the opportunity to work with Rhimes not only in Bridgerton, but also in Grey’s Anatomy And Scandal.
