By the beginning of next week, the Civil Police of Rio de Janeiro should indict Suyany Breschak, who presents herself as Cigana Esmeralda on social media, and Luiz Marcelo Ormond’s girlfriend, Júlia Pimenta, for qualified homicide against the 44-year-old businessman.
Civil Police sources exclusively told the CNN that they are convinced of Júlia and Suyany’s actions and that the two should be indicted for the murder of Ormond, who died after eating a poisoned brigadeiro.
In addition to the indictments directly related to the victim’s death, the police informed the CNN that, in total, six people will be indicted for the purchase and sale of the businessman’s weapons, which constitutes a crime provided for in the Disarmament Statute. The two already mentioned and four other men involved in this other crime related to the case. See the list:
- Júlia Andrade Cathermol Pimenta, the businessman’s girlfriend
- Suyany Breschak, gypsy, friend and spiritual mentor of the businessman’s girlfriend
- Leandro Jean Rodrigues Catanhede, the gypsy’s boyfriend
- Victor Ernesto de Souza Chaffi, friend of the gypsy and Leandro
- Michael Graça Soares, alleged buyer of the weapons
- Geovani Tavares Gonçalves, purchase intermediary
Sources linked to the investigation claim that everyone would benefit from the sale of weapons and, for some of those involved, from Ormond’s other assets, such as his car, computers and watches.
Also according to the police, the indictment of those involved and the request for preventive detention of Julia and Suyany should be sent to the Public Ministry of Rio de Janeiro by the beginning of next week. If the MP accepts, those involved will be denounced and will face legal action.
Investigators are also investigating whether Leandro and Victor were accomplices in the murder of Luiz Ormond.
The delegate responsible for the case, Marcos Buss, told CNN that the two women may also face charges for other crimes, such as document falsification and money laundering.
Possible penalties
O article 17 of the Statute provides for a sentence of 6 to 12 years for anyone who acquires, receives, transports, displays for sale or in any way uses a firearm without legal or regulatory authorization.
The penalty to be applied to women for homicide may vary due to the understanding of the Court and the qualifiers of the law. The crime of qualified homicide with the use of poison carries a prison sentence of 12 to 30 years, in accordance with article 121 of the Penal Code.
Considering the maximum sentence for both, Júlia and Suyany can be sentenced to up to 42 years in prison, after the case is resolved and judged.
The seizure of weapons
The Civil Police seized Luiz Marcelo Ormond’s weapons this Monday (10) during an operation in the Lagos region, in Cabo Frio, Rio de Janeiro. The agents arrived at the weapons after analyzing cell phones seized during investigations.
The seizure is the result of the involvement of the other two participants in the sale of weapons: Geovani Gonçalves and Michael Soares, Giovani’s nephew.
In a statement, Geovani says that he was in a bar, in Cabo Frio, on May 23, when he saw Victor Chaffin in a vehicle. Victor allegedly stated that the car belonged to a friend and asked the witness if he was interested in the weapons.
Geovani said no, but that he knew a friend who was interested. Victor then states that, in addition to the weapons, the car was also for sale, asking R$20,000 for the weapons and R$40,000 for the vehicle.

According to Geovani, the value of the vehicle was low, which caused surprise. Victor told him that the supposed friend’s boyfriend had died and that he had gone to the couple’s house to collect the goods.
On this occasion, Victor offered 12 watches, 2 computers and a sealed air conditioning unit. The next day, Geovani introduced the interested “friend” to the seller: Michael, his nephew.
Geovani says that, during this meeting, he noticed irregularities in the weapon and advised his nephew not to buy it. Michael would have purchased the items anyway and asked his uncle to share proof of payment of R$14,000 with Victor.
After learning of the businessman’s death, Geovani contacted his nephew to collaborate with the investigations. Therefore, Michael was willing to return the weapons and determined a place for investigators to carry out the seizure.
