Brigitte Bardot turns 90

Brigitte Bardot, timeless icon and legendary sex symbolcelebrate 90 years old. Its name, or rather its double “B”, is synonymous with beauty and freedom. With his aesthetic code and his indomitable sensuality, he revolutionized the world of entertainment by becoming symbol of French cinema and a model of female empowerment. Emblem of sexuality, her myth is compared only to that of Marilyn Monroe. Mythological blond hair and enchanting look, BB born on September 28, 1934 to Paris in a bourgeois family. After her debut as a classical dancer, she first became a model, posing for various fashion magazines, then an actress and finally, from 1962, also a singer. The jet set was in shock when, at the height of her career, Brigitte Bardot left the golden world of show business to dedicate herself body and soul to animal rights causeof which she is a pioneer. When, in 1984, she discovered she had breast cancer, she refused treatment, believing that this was her destiny. Brigitte Bardot loved to be amazed by the things that surrounded her, even those that may appear to be the most insignificant: the petals of a daisy, the wings of a butterfly, small noises, the scent of her freshly made bed, the glitter of a crystal hanging from a chandelier.

The actress has always refused to conform to other people’s expectations, living her life by her own rules and proving that true beauty lies in being true to yourself.

She embodied female empowerment, breaking traditional molds and showing that a woman can be independent, strong and autonomous. Brigitte is also one of the first to show off the monokini. In France, where toplessness was quite common at the time, it didn’t cause much of a stir, but in the United States it was considered scandalous.

Wear what makes you feel comfortable

He ignored trends. Completely. The clothes he wore were not in fashion at that time. Even today, the gingham pattern and the mythological “Bardot neckline” are classics in the wardrobe of every woman who wants to be chic and sensual. The same goes for his home decor: he used seashells and pastel colors long before others found it stylish.

Follow your instincts

Rebellious and nonconformist, BB never did anything he didn’t want to. The most striking example was the announcement of his retirement from the stage, at the age of forty and at the peak of his career, for a life out of the spotlight.

His transition from film to activism demonstrates the importance of fighting for what you believe in. Bardot has used her immense fame to promote animal protection, becoming an influential voice for the rights of the most defenseless living beings. A pioneer of the animal rights cause, she began her crusade after being touched by a goat on the set of Colinot the petticoat lifter which became his last film. The diva decided to buy that creature destined for the slaughter and save its life; that day he made the decision to quit show business to help animals.

Isolation is a luxury

The diva lives in her villa La Madrague in Saint-Tropez in the company of her fourth husband, the politician Bernard d’Ormale, and surrounded by dogs, cats and goats. He admits that his well-being is partly based on solitude and silence.

Speak without shame

Brigitte Bardot has always been known for her frankness and courage in saying what she thought, even when her opinions were controversial. Since her beginnings, the actress has never hesitated to express her ideas, challenging social conventions and expectations. This outspokenness was reflected not only in his interviews and public appearances, but also in his commitment to animal rights, where he often expressed positions critical of governments, institutions and traditional practices that he deemed inhumane.

As a child, BB had protruding teeth and had to wear braces. After the correction, she was left with the diastema, the space between her front teeth. Even today, her smile is considered one of the sexiest ever.

Accept the passage of time
