Brit Awards 2021: from Taylor Swift to the triumph of Dua Lipa. All winners

In the first major European event in the presence of 2021, it is Dua Lipa the brightest star to shine ai Brit Awards 2021, i most important prizes of English music delivered to the O2 Arena in London with four thousand people present and all security protocols duly respected. The singer, fresh from the worldwide success of Future Nostalgia and absent from the Brit since 2019, he wins, in fact, the award for the best female artist and for the best album of the year, without neglecting his strong social commitment: in his latest acceptance speech, in fact, Dua Lipa urges British Prime Minister Boris Johnson to raise the salaries of workers at the forefront of the fight against the pandemic by dedicating the victory to Elizabeth anionwu, the British nurse who became the symbol of the first lockdown.

The evening, which begins with a spectacular performance by Coldplay on a barge on the Thames to the tune of Higher Power, their latest single, also awards Arlo Parks as the best emerging artist; Harry Styles for Best Single, Watermelon Sugar; Billie Eilish for the best international female artist (he pronounces the speech remotely, showing off his new look); le Haim for the best international group; the Little Mix as Best Group (it is the first time that an all-female group breaks through in this category) e The Weeknd, who receives the award for the best international male artist after an introductory video by Michelle Obama. Eyes, however, also focused on Taylor Swift, who shows up at the Brit Awards 2021 to collect the Global Icon, becoming the first female artist to achieve this result. In his thank you speech, he explains the need to be resilient and, above all, to resist “turbulence and pressure”.

Certainly that of 2021 will be remembered as the women’s edition: it is the first time in history, in fact, that four of the five candidates for the British album of the year are women (Arlo Parks, Celeste, Dua Lipa and Jessie Ware). In 2020, the same category presented exclusively male candidates.
