Britain: 61 deaths, over 40,000 cases of coronavirus in 24 hours

The British health authorities announced yesterday Sunday that in the previous 24 hours 40,004 cases of SARS-CoV-2 were confirmed and 61 patients died due to complications of COVID-19.

The new coronavirus pandemic in the United Kingdom has claimed the lives of 143,927 people out of a total of 9,845,492 infections. The death toll includes only those who died within 28 days of being diagnosed with the virus.

8,079 patients with COVID-19 were treated in British hospitals yesterday.

Most restrictive measures have been lifted, citing the progress of the immunization campaign. 88% of citizens over the age of 12 have received the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine and 80% have been fully vaccinated, according to the latest data. The administration of booster doses, which exceeded 26% of the target population, continues.
