Britain: 83 activists arrested for blocking oil terminals in protest of climate change

British police say 83 people have been arrested in the last 48 hours in Essex, east London, as protesters block climate oil terminals.

Hundreds of Extinction Rebellion and Just Stop Oil activists blocked terminals across Britain on Friday. Some of them climbed on the oil tanks as part of their campaign to persuade the government to speed up coal mining efforts.

Essex police said today that 63 people were arrested on Friday and another 20 today, Saturday, on suspicion of various offenses.

Extinction Rebellion announced on Friday that it plans to increase pressure in London, with daily demonstrations in the British capital from April 9.
