Britain: A young man who tried to invade Windsor Castle in a psychiatric clinic

A young man, armed with a crossbow, who was arrested when attempted to invade Windsor Castle, was taken into custody after undergoing a psychiatric examination, police said.

The 19-year-old, from Southampton in the south of England, was arrested a few minutes after he passed the Castle estate, where the Queen Elizabeth to spend Christmas with Prince Charles and his wife, Camilla. He did not manage, in the beginning, to enter a building.

“The man was arrested and underwent a psychiatric examination. “He is being held under the Mental Health Law and remains under the supervision of doctors,” police said.

The 19-year-old used a rope ladder to climb a metal fence of the Tower. A crossbow was found in his possession.

According to the Daily Mirror, the security cameras recorded the suspect. “The security agents could not believe their eyes,” a security source told the newspaper.

On the occasion of this episode, the review of security procedures in the queen’s residences is planned.

Crossbows are considered deadly weapons in Britain, but you do not need a special permit to buy or possess them.

This is not the first time that someone has attempted to invade the Queen’s residence. The most impressive such attempt took place in 1982, when 30-year-old Michael Fagan managed to reach her bedroom at Buckingham Palace while Elizabeth was in bed.
