Russian forces are increasingly frustrated by what the United States calls “sustainable” Ukrainian resistance, a U.S. defense official said on Saturday, according to Reuters.
“We know they have not made the progress they wanted to make, especially in the north. They are disappointed with what they have seen as a very determined resistance,” he said, without elaborating. “This has slowed them down,” the official added.
Russia’s advance on Ukraine has slowed temporarily, most likely due to logistics problems and strong resistance, the British Defense Ministry said on Saturday.
“The pace of Russian advance has slowed temporarily, most likely as a result of escalating logistical difficulties and strong Ukrainian resistance,” the ministry said in a regular intelligence post posted on Twitter.
“Russian forces are bypassing large Ukrainian population centers, while allowing forces to encircle and isolate them. The nighttime clashes in Kiev are likely to involve a limited number of Russian pre-arranged groups. Occupying Kiev remains Russia’s main target. .
