Britain: Boomerang shoots Burger King tweet reproduces sexist stereotypes

The well-known chain has been under attack by hundreds of social media users since yesterday Burger King due to a controversial tweet posted on Monday, at International Women’s Day.

The British branch wrote this morning on twitter that “women belong in the kitchen”.

The restaurant tried to overemphasize the low number of female chefs and their desire to “get more and more into staff positions”, but the post was so poorly worded that it had different results than intended.

And yes, the chain added to the original tweet: “If they want, of course. However, only 20% of chefs are women. We are on a mission to change the gender ratio in the restaurant, empowering female employees to pursue a career as a cook “, but the evil had already been done, forcing the company to withdraw the tweet (making things worse, as it was as if admitting guilt of).

As soon as the tweet in question appeared, several angry users broke out on the Burger King UK account.

One user noted that there are better ways to draw attention to something that does not involve the use of a sexist phrase. Another added: “Please do not use sexism as a clickbait”, while another woman swore that she would never eat in those stores again.
