Britain: Climate change activists “glued” their hands to a Van Gogh painting

Disturbance prevailed in a museum in Britainwhen two activists walked in and “stuck” their hands on an iconic Van Gogh painting to protest the climate change.

According to Agence France-Presse, activists chose an 1889 painting titled “Blooming Peach Trees” depicting a landscape in the south of France. The work is on display at the Courtauld Gallery.

“Sorry everyone, we didn’t want to do this, we stuck to this painting, this beautiful painting, because we’re terrified for our future,” he explained in a video. Louis McKenney, 21, one of the activists. The young man has already been arrested 20 times and in the winter spent six weeks in jail for blocking, along with others, the London Ring Road. In March, he interrupted a soccer match when he tied himself to the goal posts.

Also, the other activist, Emily Brocklebanka 24-year-old psychology student, said she “can’t live in a bubble of normalcy when society is collapsing around us and so many people in the South are suffering.”

It is noted that this mobilization took place because Provence, the region of southern France depicted in Van Gogh’s painting, is at risk of drought. The group also noted that five of its members were arrested on Wednesday at a Glasgow museum after writing slogans on the ground and a wall and sticking their fingers in the frame of a 19th-century painting depicting the Scottish Highlands.
