Snow and frost in the UK caused significant problems on the road and rail network, with many routes canceled or significantly delayed. Overnight in several parts of Scotland the temperature dropped to 15 degrees below zero.
The severe weather affected services on the Gatwick Express, Great Northern, Southern and Thameslink networks according to the Independent. Passengers are asked to travel only if necessary, as delays are expected today.
The problems come a day before thousands of workers are due to take part in two 48-hour strikes planned by rail workers.
