Britain today condemned the “heinous” attack on the Ukrainian port of Odessa, the day after a deal was signed by Russia and Ukraine to resume grain exports via the Black Sea.
“It is absolutely appalling that just one day after this agreement,” Russian President Vladimir Putin launched a completely unjustified attack on Odessa, the foreign minister said. Liz Truss.
“This shows that we cannot trust a word of what he says,” she added during a trip as part of her campaign to succeed Boris Johnson, “and we must urgently work with our international partners to find another way to get the grain out of Ukraine without involving Russia and its broken promises.”
Members of Britain’s Conservative party are expected to vote on September 5 to decide who – Liz Truss or former finance minister Rishi Sunak – will be the next leader of the government.
