Britain: Defense Secretary cancels vacation as Ukraine crisis worsens

British Defense Secretary Ben Wallace is returning from a vacation abroad to tackle what he called a “worsening” crisis in Ukraine.

Wallace was planning to spend the three days abroad with his family after visiting Moscow last week for diplomatic talks. ITV News reported that the minister announced the change of his plans, after one of their journalists located him in a European resort and the television network asked the Minister of Defense to comment.

“Having returned from Moscow early Saturday morning and because we are concerned about the deteriorating situation in Ukraine, I canceled the three days I had planned abroad with my family and am returning,” Wallace wrote on Twitter.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson was summoned to oust then-Foreign Minister Dominique Raab and other senior officials after taking a summer vacation when the Taliban seized control of the Afghan capital, Kabul, and ousted the British government.
