Britain: “I don’t pay” movement says it will immediately stop electricity payments from October 1st

More than 100,000 citizens in Great Britain have signed the relevant online declaration against warnings about the consequences of those who leave their debts unpaid. Running inflation and the energy crisis “threaten” households, with analysts talking of the toughest winter in decades. In these conditions, in addition to the growing strike wave, the “I don’t pay” movement also appeared.

More than 80,000 British electricity consumers have explicitly expressed their intention to stop direct bill payments from October 1 if the government does not take care to reduce tariff charges which, as in all European countries, have soared ” to God”, at the same time blowing up family budgets.

Why is the ever-expanding, in the middle of summer, “I don’t pay, I don’t pay electricity” movement threatening to declare a stoppage of payments on October 1st? Because this is the date on which energy providers in England, Scotland and Wales are set to make dramatic price rises. But this is also the date on which the implementation of relief measures by the British government will begin.

British energy companies will be able to charge the highest percentage increases from October 1 to cover energy supply price hikes they have been hit with since the outbreak of war in Ukraine.

In this regard, analysts estimate that the average annual charge paid by an average British household for electricity will jump from October to 3,358 pounds (3,970 euros) from 1,971 pounds (2,330 euros) last April.

The ‘I don’t pay electricity’ movement is warning that millions of people will no longer be able to pay their energy bills this winter. And that the campaign he is undertaking is the only way to force the government and the energy companies to take action to deal with the coming social crisis.
