Britain: Johnson rejects making vaccines mandatory

The Prime Minister of the United Kingdom Boris Johnson said today that the Covid-19 vaccine will not be mandatory even if vaccinators discourage people from getting vaccinated.

Johnson said he wanted to persuade people who were reluctant to get vaccinated, but those who spread misinformation made the whole effort harder.

“I want a voluntary approach in this country and we will maintain a voluntary approach,” Johnson told reporters.

“But what a tragedy to have all this pressure on the NHS (National Health Authority) … and to have people out there saying completely absurd things about vaccination… And I think it’s time for me (and the) government to ask them “Explanations of what they are doing. It is completely wrong. It is completely counterproductive.”
