Britain: Johnson vows to ‘keep working’ after victory in motion of censure

The British Prime Minister Boris Johnson will meet with his ministers today, pledging to “continue the work”, after his victory in yesterday’s vote on the motion of censure.

“This is a government that brings results to the issues that most concern the people of this country,” Johnson said in a statement issued by his office ahead of his meeting with ministers.

“We stand with the hard-working British people and will continue to work,” the statement added.

According to the announcement of his office, the British Prime Minister during this meeting will present his vision for the coming weeks, including measures to reduce the cost of child care and to help more people buy their own home.

Johnson won the motion of censure last night with 211 votes – against 148 against – enough to avoid being forced to resign immediately. However, he is facing many more dissatisfied MPs in his party than he expected, which seems to weaken his power and force him to fight to regain their trust, as well as that of the citizens.
