Less than 100,000 new cases were reported today by the British health authorities, but the data released did not include data from Northern Ireland, Scotland and all of Wales.
According to the data published, in the last 24 hours 98,515 new cases and 143 deaths were recorded. On December 25, the cases amounted to 113,628 and on December 26 to 108,893.
Current figures do not include data from Northern Ireland, Scotland and parts of Wales, due to the different recording practices of these regions during the holiday season.
As of December 24, more than 122,000 new cases had been reported, mainly due to the Omicron variant.
In all, 12.2 million people in the United Kingdom have been infected with the new coronavirus since the beginning of the pandemic, and 148,003 of them have died.
