Britain: More than 50 fines were issued for parties on Downing Street

The British police announced today that it proceeded to more than 50 references for fines for violations of the Lockdown Rules, imposed by the Coronovirus, concentrations at the offices and home of Prime Minister Boris Johnson.

Police in riot gear stormed a rally on Friday, removing 12 protesters by truck.

There was no immediate comment from the prime minister’s office, which has said it would announce the fine to the prime minister himself.

Last month, police announced that an initial 20 fine notices would be issued and that further fines could still be issued.

“We are making every effort to proceed with this investigation at a rapid pace, including the fact that we continue to evaluate a significant amount of research material, from which further referrals may arise,” police said in a statement.

The fines confirmed that the unprecedented measures aimed at protecting citizens against COVID-19 were violated by Downing Street officials who designed them.
