Britain: New vehicle sales plunge in February – Lowest level since 1959

New car registrations in Britain fell 35.5% year-on-year last month to their lowest level since 1959 as lockdown measures kept dealerships closed, according to the Automobile Manufacturers and Traders Association (SMMT), according to the RES.

The volume amounted to 51,312 cars, according to SMMT.

The delegations cars have been forced to remain closed to consumers alongside other unnecessary retail outlets.

While February is a month with relatively low sales, dealerships are expected to close in the UK in March, accounting for around 20% of annual rankings as it is one of the two months in the year when license plate times change.
