Britain: Officials start receiving ‘Partygate’ fines

British officials have begun receiving fines for violating Covid-19 regulations, the British television network Sky News reported today, days after the police announced that initially 20 fines will be served, after the completion of an investigation into the coronary parties in Downing Street.

Sky News reported that the fines were related to a farewell party held on June 18, 2020 at the Cabinet Office, a building in the heart of government property linked to the offices and residence of Prime Minister Boris Johnson on Downing Street.

According to the British television network, the first of these fines amount to 50 pounds. Officials were not named.

The incident was one of 12 that police investigated, based on information that came into its possession following an internal government investigation, which found that the British Prime Minister’s staff was enjoying a party with alcohol.
