Britain: Police described yesterday’s explosion of a taxi in Liverpool as a ‘terrorist act’

According to the Daily Mail, the taxi driver, David Perry, considered the passenger to have suspicious behavior and locked him in the taxi before escaping.

The driver was injured in the blast and the passenger was killed.

“The driver with his heroic efforts managed to prevent what would be an absolutely horrible disaster,” Liverpool Mayor Joan Anderson told the BBC, confirming that he had “closed the doors” of the car.

Four suspects were arrested in connection with the attack.

The passenger of the taxi seems to have “made an improvised explosive device”, which caused the explosion, Jackson announced.

“We know that Memorial Day events were taking place very close to the hospital and that the explosion occurred just before 11 a.m. .

Jackson told reporters that based on what he knew, a Delta taxi driver boarded someone on Rutland Avenue near Shefton Park.

“The passenger asked to go to Liverpool Gynecology Hospital, which is 10 minutes away. As the taxi approached the disembarkation point in front of the hospital, there was an explosion inside the vehicle, which was quickly engulfed in flames,” Jackson said.

According to him, a 20-year-old man, a 21-year-old, a 26-year-old and a 29-year-old were arrested yesterday in the Kensington area of ​​Liverpool and were detained under the anti-terrorism law. All four were questioned by men from the police counter-terrorism service.
