Britain promises to increase humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip

The British government will increase humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip by £19m (€22.8m) as the situation in the Palestinian enclave is “catastrophic”, International Development Secretary Annelise Dodds said today, who will attend the Cairo at a meeting on the issue that is being organized today, Monday 2/12. “Gazaians are in desperate need of food and shelter as winter sets in. The Cairo conference will be an opportunity (…) to advance solutions to the humanitarian crisis,” Ms Dodds said, according to a Labor government press release. “Israel must act immediately to guarantee unhindered access for humanitarian aid to Gaza,” he added, as international organizations and non-governmental organizations accuse Israeli authorities of not allowing enough trucks to enter the besieged enclave.
